Three people killed in accident on I-16 in Treutlen County
SOPERTON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Three people were killed early Friday morning on Interstate 16.
Treutlen County Coroner Greg Higgs tells 41NBC, the fatal accident happened around 3 a.m. in Soperton. Higgs says a tractor trailer ran into the back of a small car on I-16 in the eastbound lane near mile marker 72.
According to Higgs,
27-year-old Beverly McClain Baird, 28-year-old Ricardo Jason Dewberry, and 24-year-old Nicholas Ray Price were all killed in the crash.“Two were in the front seats, but the rear passenger was pinned in between the front and the back seats,” Higgs explained. “Treutlen Fire and Rescue cut the front driver side bucket seat out and then we were able to remove his body fro the car,”
Higgs said he had very little information about the truck driver involved in the accident.
“I’m not aware if the truck driver received any injuries,” said Higgs. “But I was told he was very upset about the accident.”
