SWAT stand-off ends with suspect hospitalized and facing charges

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A domestic dispute in Perry led to a SWAT stand-off Thursday.

According to a Houston County Sheriff’s Office news release, Jerry James Barton threatened to kill his sister and fired a shot into the floor at their home located at 214 Culpepper Road.

Investigators say Barton initially refused to let deputies into the house, but after a brief stand-off with police and deputies he eventually surrendered

Barton was taken to the Houston County Medical Center for treatment. He is facing aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and reckless conduct charges.
