Gordon Police investigating vandalism at city hall
Investigators are questioning city employees and talking with residents, trying to find out who vandalized Gordon City Hall windows. Assistant Police Chief Larry Hines says the markings are made up of a “greasy and oily substance.”
The crosses appeared on the inside of city hall’s windows Monday. According to Hines, there was no sign of forced entry. He adds, someone had to used a key to get into the building.
The city’s clerk has also asked the police for an investigation.
“The notebook containing the official city minutes had went missing from her office and when she returned back to work, I think it was the next day or the day after, the minutes reappeared on her filing cabinet in her office,” explains Hines.
We’re told the person or people responsible for the cross markings could face a stiff penalty and they could be charged with criminal trespassing. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call 478-628-2323.
