Federal and state transportation representatives tour MTA bus shop

The purpose of the tour was for the federal and state officials to see first hand the necessity of the new facility.
MTA is awaiting final approval of federal grant worth more than a million dollars, to purchase the new shop.
General Manager, Richard Jones says the bus company has outgrown the old maintenance shop.
“We’re operating on borrow space from the city maintenance facility over on seventh street,” says Jones. “Those facilities are challenging at best for operating a bus fleet. They’re having to operate inside and outside if you have to get a bus off the ground it has to come outside.”
MTA’s grant from the Federal Transit Association is worth $1.3 million dollars and does not need to be matched with any federal or state funds.
