Severe Weather Forecast for April 29th, 2014
Severe weather is the biggest concern for today. As of our Daybreak forecast, we are under a tornado watch through 11am for half the viewing area. This means conditions are favorable for development of tornadoes, and of course we’re hoping to avoid that. CAPE (convective available potential energy) is high for today, and we have decent low-level wind shear, particularly this afternoon/evening. That is when the highest chance for severe weather will be, though we still have a chance this morning. High winds and hail are the main concerns, plus a possibility for isolated tornadoes.
Here is what I tell our viewers: severe weather should be taken seriously, but this is not atypical for Middle Georgia in the spring. That means this is not a rare severe weather system; we’ve been through this in past springs. This is not like Arkansas, but the weather could still cause damage.
The highest chance for severe weather is between 2pm – 10pm today. We’ll have more details throughout the day on 41NBC, and be sure to check out our Facebook Weather page: https://www.facebook.com/41FirstAlert
