Bobcat Men’s Cross Country Lands 3 on All-Academic Team

AUGUSTA, Ga. (GCSU RELEASE) – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) announced its Men’s Cross Country All-Academic Team Tuesday, with Georgia College’s James Ryden (Atlanta), Paul McNeil (Dunwoody, Ga.) and Michael Ziegler (Grayson, Ga.) all earning slots.

Ryden owns a perfect 4.00 GPA in psychology as a sophomore. McNeil is a sophomore with an undeclared major and a 3.53 GPA, while Ziegler boasts a 3.61 in environmental science. Each of the three men earn a spot on the team during their first season of eligibility.

In the six years of honoring these academic stars, the Bobcat men’s cross country team has now put 16 on the list.

The team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team’s events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee and select the teams.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Nov. 9 at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship in Charlotte, N.C.
