Succeed at Losing Weight in 2011

Be it diet or exercise, a majority of resolutions revolve around weight loss. However, experts say in this case, actions speak louder than words.

Many of us start the year with good intentions of exercise routines and diet plans but for most by Valentine’s Day the fire has fizzled.

Experts say that’s because we try to do too much too soon.

Registered Nurse Casey Page says “don’t try to start a 7 day a week exercise plan and a 800 calorie diet. You’re gonna fail and you’re gonna be really hungry and miserable.”

Rather small goals are easier to stick to. For example, lose five pounds or exercise three times a week.

And, experts say, setbacks are OK. View them as an opportunity to learn your weaknesses and make corrections.

Enlisting the help of a friend or spouse can give you extra motivation to stick to your goals. So does committing to exercise activities like a new year’s day run.

Casey Page says “gosh do I want to hibernate all day saturday or do I really wanna strap on the tennis shoes and you know go for a run? You just gotta get started.”

New beginnings with hopefully a healthy end.

Experts say keeping food and exercise diaries can help you stick to your new year’s resolution because seeing what you’re eating and how often you’re working out is a true reality check!
