39 Residents and Fellows Begin Training at MCCG

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – 39 medical students are now one step closer to becoming doctors.

In a white coat ceremony Monday afternoon, the Medical Center of Central Georgia welcomed in the class of soon-to-be physicians.  33 residents and six fellows will start their specialized training at the hospital this year.

Dr. Delanor Doyle, Chief Medical Information Officer at MCCG, says learning in real-life conditions at the hospital will help these students later on in their careers.

“They need to understand that there’s been great faith and confidence instilled in them,” says Doyle.  “When they walk into a patient’s room, that’ll be expected of them.  People will place their lives into these young doctor’s hand, and so we want them to understand that and step up to the plate.”

Doyle says most physicians that train at MCCG end up practicing here in the Peach State.
