BCSO announces road closures ahead of fallen deputy’s funeral Tuesday
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has issued traffic advisories ahead of fallen deputy Christopher Knight’s funeral services Tuesday, April 13.
The funeral for Knight, who was killed April 6, will be held at 2 p.m. at the Macon City Auditorium. A private graveside service will follow at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.
Several roads will be closed between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.:
- First Street from Riverside Drive to Cotton Avenue
- Cherry Street from New Street to First Street
- Poplar Street from New Street to First Street
Additional, temporary closures:
Intersections along First Street, Telfair Street and Mercer University Drive will be temporarily blocked as the procession travels from the Macon City Auditorium to Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. These areas are expected to be impacted between 4 and 5 p.m.
