Dozens Killed In Iraqi Car Bombings

BAGHDAD (AP) – Four car bombs have exploded in two outdoor markets in and south of Baghdad, killing more than 30 people and wounding dozens more.

Police say the first bomb in Baghdad exploded at the entrance to an outdoor pet market. When panicked shoppers tried to flee, a second parked car exploded a few yards away. At least 17 people were killed and 45 wounded.

About an hour later, two car bombs exploded simultaneously at a vegetable market in Hillah province, south of the Iraqi capital, killing at least 17 people and wounding another 45.

The bombings are the latest attacks by suspected Sunni insurgents trying to re-ignite sectarian violence and undermine the Shiite-led government.
