Crews worked along Main Street to tidy up the town for the 9th annual Deep Roots Festival. The celebration is expected to draw thousands of people from across our area and they wanted to make sure festival goers leave with a positive impression.

“Just trying to make downtown look pretty as we can for Deep Roots Festival,” said Carlee Schulte with Milledgeville Main Street, “and keep people coming back.”

The Velvet Elvis, a bar and grill in downtown Milledgeville, depends on festivals like Deep Roots to bring in new faces.

“It’s very important,” said Velvet Elvis employee Brandon Beaty, “it brings in lots of customers and it’s usually a good for business for us.”

Deep Roots Festival is Saturday, October 20 in downtown Milledgeville. It features art vendors, a barbecue cook-off and of course plenty of music. Schulte said they plan to make the Deep Roots clean-up day an annual event.
