New Macon Symphony Orchestra Conductor Makes His Debut

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon Symphony Orchestra is playing a new tune now that it has finally found a new conductor and music director.

Passion, artistry and musicality are some of the qualities Ward Stare brings as the new conductor of the Macon Symphony Orchestra.

“Creating an atmosphere is important for a conductor to do so that the musicians are able to make the right sounds, the right phrases so you set them up with success with what the composer intended,” Stare said.

Stare comes to Middle Georgia after years of experience leading orchestras across the country and internationally. He says he’s excited to settle down in Macon.

“I have a great vibe, a great feeling about the community, about the orchestra, about the town and I’m very excited to be be a part of it,” he said.

He’s not only leading the musicians from behind the conductor stand, he’s also taking on the role of music director.

“The hard part is being music director because as music director your responsible for things like programming and overseeing the entire season,” Stare said.

The musicians love working with him.

“He has a real flair for helping the orchestra relax and play and do their very best,” musician David Morris said.

“I think he’s bringing a lot of energy, enthusiasm into Macon with the orchestra,” musician Candace Keach said.

That passion is what he wants to bring to the community. Now all that is missing is you sitting in the house and enjoying the music.
