Two Developmentally Disabled Individuals Get Chance to Go to Summer Camp for Free

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two lucky people will get the chance to go to summer camp next week—for free.

The Pilot Club of Macon presented a check in the amount of $400 to the Advocacy Resource Center Monday night.

The money will send two developmentally disabled individuals to Camp ASCCA in Jackson’s Gap, Alabama, which specializes in therapeutic and recreational activities.

Carolyn Glover, president of the club, says no matter where the need, the group is always excited to give back to the community.

“Our organization is a global organization,” says Glover.  “We’re located even in Japan and in the Bahamas.  We are a service organization and we support individuals with mental disablities through scholarships.”

Pilot International was founded right here in Macon in 1921 as a volunteer organization.

Since then, it’s expanded to include more than 395 clubs worldwide.
