Warner Robins Hoping to Host Special Olympics In 2013

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Warner Robins is throwing their name in the running to host the Special Olympics Masters Bowling Tournament for the next three years.

The middle Georgia city won the great honor in the past. They hosted the games from 2010 through 2012. The host city would have to put up $19,250 per year to get the games going. It’s a price that Councilman Mike Brashear believes is worth every penny.

“We’re very fortunate. We were voted one of the best places in the country to raise children. We reach out to all children whether they be special needs children, healthy. They are important to us. They are our future,” says Brashear.

Warner Robins saw more than a million dollars pumped into their economy from out of town spenders during the Special Olympics in years past. If chosen as the host city again, the games will take place at Gold Cup Bowling Center and Robins Lanes at the end of August.
