Wind Topples Tents, Fencing At Masters Tournament

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) – Officials at the Masters Tournament in Augusta delayed opening the grounds after thunderstorms with winds of up to 60 mph blew over some vendor tents and temporary fencing.

WRDW-TV reports (http://bit.ly/H8o1tW) that tournament officials still planned to open the golf course Wednesday morning for a scheduled Par 3 Contest.

Gates typically open at 8 a.m., but that was delayed as officials cleared debris scattered throughout the course at Augusta National Golf Club. The storms also brought down trees near the club.
