New Verizon cell sites expand coverage in Forsyth, Monroe County
The City of Forsyth provided access to city-owned property, including space atop a water tower, to support the expansion.

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Verizon has added two new cell sites in Forsyth, expanding 4G and 5G coverage for customers across Monroe County.
Verizon says the expansion will bring a noticeable boost in internet speeds for customers in the area. Forsyth Mayor Greg Goolsby welcomed the news after years of poor service in the community.
Julie Smith, Verizon’s vice president of external affairs, said the project required a strong partnership with local government. The city provided access to city-owned property, including space atop a water tower.
“Verizon really needs local government to be a good partner with us,” she said. “They really gave the opportunity to be the deciding factor on whether or not we’re able to deploy. So with the city being able to provide us their own real estate and letting us attach to the top of the water tower, it was really a great spot.”
Smith added that the improved coverage will benefit not only Forsyth residents but also visitors passing through the area each day.
