PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – With Election Day approaching, Republican gubernatorial nominee Rick Jackson stopped in Perry on Monday, Nov. 2, as part of a seven-stop statewide get-out-the-vote tour.

Jackson was joined by Gov. Brian Kemp, Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper and Georgia Senate President Pro Tempore Larry Walker at the Perry-Houston County Airport.

The tour included stops in Canton, Perry, Albany, Savannah, Augusta, Dalton and Kennesaw, with Jackson and Republican leaders encouraging voters to head to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

During his Perry stop, Jackson highlighted his campaign’s economic priorities, including reducing income and property taxes, lowering health care costs and addressing gasoline taxes when prices rise.

“I’ll cut income taxes in half, lower property taxes, make healthcare costs go down, and then also, when it spikes, we will lower the tax on gasoline just like the Governor just did. I’ll make life more affordable,” Jackson said.

Jackson also criticized his Democratic opponent, Keisha Lance Bottoms, as he made his final campaign push ahead of Election Day.

Other Republicans who spoke during the Perry stop expressed concerns about early voting numbers and said they hoped to see more Republican and rural voters participate on Election Day.

The statewide tour was designed to encourage voter turnout across Georgia as the gubernatorial candidates made their final appeals to voters.

Georgia voters will head to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 3. Voters can find election information, including polling locations, through the Georgia Secretary of State’s office.
