Scattered afternoon and evening storms expected to end the week

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Humidity has been climbing to end the work week and the odds for storms will climb heading into the weekend.
This Evening
There’s been more sunshine today than yesterday and the increase in humidity has been noticeable as heat indexes have largely reached the upper 90s. The number of mid-level cumulus clouds is also an indicator of increasing instability. While rain odds will remain low this evening the odds are expected to jump a lot tomorrow. Overnight lows will be in the lower 70s across Middle Georgia accompanied by light wind from the south-southwest. Cloud cover is expected to increase further leading into Friday morning.
Tomorrow
Grab the rain gear out the door as a wet afternoon/evening look likely around Middle Georgia to end the work week. Temperatures should climb into the upper 80s and lower 90s before rain begins around the region. The wind will be light out of the southwest. As for the afternoon/evening storms organized severe activity is not expected however the most intense storms could bring wind gusts in excess of 40 mph.
Overnight will be mostly cloudy with a few isolated showers or perhaps a storm persisting past midnight. Temperatures will valley in the lower 70s with real feels closer to the mid 70s. Fog also will be possible heading into Saturday’s sunrise.
This Weekend and Beyond
Cloud cover as well as temperatures will remain above average most of this weekend however rain odds on Saturday may actually keep some spots below normal for the afternoon highs. Those with weekend plans should keep the rain gear handy as storms will be possible both days, but especially Saturday. Expect partly cloudy and above average conditions to continue throughout much of next week before a potential late week cooldown.
