Macon-Bibb Code Enforcement director resigns
Chief Communications Officer Chris Floore says County Manager Keith Moffett will serve as interim director, while Assistant Director Rodney Miller manages day-to-day operations.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Macon-Bibb County Code Enforcement Director J.T. Ricketson has resigned after more than five years with the county, according to Chief Communications Officer Chris Floore.
Floore said Ricketson’s resignation is effective Friday.
“We want to thank him for his more than five years of service to our community and for building our new Code Enforcement Department,” Floore said.
County Manager Dr. Keith Moffett will serve as interim director under the county charter, according to Floore. Assistant Director Rodney Miller will manage day-to-day operations.
Ricketson became Macon-Bibb’s Code Enforcement director in 2021. Before joining county government, he served as a GBI special agent and ran for Bibb County sheriff in 2020.
According to Macon-Bibb County’s website, Code Enforcement works to make sure property owners comply with county ordinances and International Property Maintenance Codes. The department handles violations that can include damaged roofs, holes in floors, broken windows, overgrown yards, trash and debris in yards and inoperable vehicles.
In a 2024 interview with 41NBC, Ricketson said the department had grown from about seven or eight code enforcement officers to 20 positions. He also said officers had become sworn officers, allowing them to issue citations.
Floore said Code Enforcement has been one of the county’s leads in addressing blight and improving public safety. According to Floore, the county has removed nearly 900 dangerous structures, addressed commercial businesses that attracted crime and helped make several apartment complexes safer for residents.
