Bibb deputies arrest man accused of stalking woman, killing her pet
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says James Simmons III was arrested after deputies investigated a stalking complaint and later recovered a firearm from the overturned truck.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A stalking suspect was arrested Tuesday morning after a vehicle pursuit ended with a truck overturning at Broadway and Moreland Avenue, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
In a Facebook post, the sheriff’s office said deputies were investigating a stalking complaint after a victim reported that 51-year-old James Simmons III repeatedly came to her home, threatened her with violence and killed her pet the night before.
During the investigation, deputies received a Flock Safety camera alert that Simmons’ vehicle was traveling in the area of Houston Avenue, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies found the vehicle and tried to make contact with the driver, but the sheriff’s office says the driver immediately fled.
Video shared by the sheriff’s office shows the chase ended when the suspect lost control of his truck, crashed through a fence and overturned at the intersection of Broadway and Moreland Avenue.
As deputies approached the overturned truck, they say they saw Simmons holding a firearm. After several commands, the sheriff’s office says the suspect complied, surrendered and got out of the truck.
Deputies took him into custody and recovered the firearm from inside the truck.
He’s charged with felony fleeing and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, criminal damage to property, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, violation of probation, aggravated stalking and aggravated cruelty to animals.
