Temperatures climb further Friday afternoon along with more storm chances

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Temperatures will reach their peaks for the work week Friday afternoon as close to half the region should see storms over the latter half of the day.
This Evening
A hot and muggy afternoon will become a warm and muggy night around Middle Georgia with a few stray showers and perhaps a thunderstorm remaining possible into the late evening hours. The wind will remain light out of the southwest through tonight with temperatures reaching their bottoms in the low to mid 70s. Some patchy fog will be possible leading into Friday morning with areas that see rain this evening most likely to see that fog.
Tomorrow
Friday will be the hottest afternoon of the week with highs reaching the mid to upper 90s and heat indexes in the upper 90s and low triple digits. The wind will be light from the west-northwest at 5-10 mph. Those spending time outside should stay hydrated and wear sunscreen as the UV index will be pushing 11 (lowest extreme value) across Middle Georgia. This translates to less than a half hour before burning begins. Storm odds will climb again with close to half the region likely to see activity over the back half of the day.
Overnight will be partly cloudy with temperatures dropping into the lower 70s around the region. The wind will be light from the west around 5 mph. Fog will again be possible overnight and into Saturday morning.
This Weekend

Both afternoons should feature plenty of storm odds with at least half of Middle Georgia likely to see activity over the back half of the day. Rain odds will remain elevated into next week as a slow moving front moves into the state from the north.
