Fatal dirt bike crash under investigation in Montezuma

Police say the crash happened Friday afternoon at the intersection of Traveler’s Rest Road and Ross Street.

MONTEZUMA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A fatal crash involving a dirt bike and a motor vehicle is under investigation in Montezuma.

The Montezuma Police Department says officers responded around 1:30 p.m. Friday to the intersection of Traveler’s Rest Road and Ross Street for a traffic collision involving a dirt bike and another vehicle.

In a statement, Montezuma Police Chief Eric Finch called the crash a “tragic accident … involving a young man within our community.”

The Georgia State Patrol is assisting with the investigation. Police said no additional information is being released at this time while the investigation continues.
