Forsyth police cite businesses after underage sales checks

Police say one vape shop employee and one convenience store employee were cited during investigations into alleged sales to minors.

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Forsyth police say two businesses failed alcohol and tobacco compliance checks after investigations into reports of sales to minors.

According to the Forsyth Police Department, the department received complaints in April from residents and parents claiming some vape shops were selling nicotine products and some convenience stores were selling alcohol to minors.

Police say the department partnered with the Georgia Department of Revenue to conduct compliance checks at businesses across the city.

Investigators say six businesses were checked for tobacco sales compliance in May. Five businesses were compliant, while one vape shop employee was cited for unlawfully selling nicotine products to a minor.

Police also say 19 businesses were checked for alcohol sales compliance. According to investigators, 18 businesses were compliant, while one convenience store employee was cited for selling alcohol to a minor.

In an email to 41NBC, Forsyth police identified the businesses involved as:

  • Xotic Vape on Cabiness Road
  • Circle K on Harold G. Clarke Parkway

Police say criminal charges are pending and the Georgia Department of Revenue is handling administrative proceedings involving the businesses.

No arrests have been announced at this time.
