Storm odds increase further Friday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Afternoon and evening storm odds Friday will be the most widespread so far this week.
This Evening
Isolated showers and storms are expected across Middle Georgia through the evening and into early tonight. Severe storms are not expected however the most mature storms may bring hail of up to an inch and wind gusts of upwards of 45 mph. Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies rolling into the overnight hours as the wind generally flows from the south-southeast around 5 mph. Fog is likely overnight and into Friday morning with areas that receive rainfall possibly seeing dense fog. Temperatures will valley in the mid to upper 60s.
Tomorrow
Following a foggy start to the day expect partly cloudy skies into the afternoon before things become mostly cloudy with storms the rest of the way. Almost all of Middle Georgia should see storms between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. As mentioned above organized severe weather is not expected but the most powerful storms could still bring a couple of strong gusts or hail. Temperatures should top off around 90 degrees. The wind will be light from the south-southeast at 5-10 mph.
Storms are likely to continue into the overnight hours but should taper off by Saturday morning. Skies will be mostly cloudy with temperatures dropping into the mid to upper 60s for most of Middle Georgia. The wind will be light and variable and fog is likely heading into the start of Saturday.
This Weekend and Beyond
The weekend will be warm and muggy with plenty of cloud cover as storm odds remain elevated in the afternoon and evening. Those with outdoor plans for the holiday weekend should plan to cook early or have a way to move their things should a storm occur. A canopy may be helpful as often summer storms don’t feature too much wind with the rain, however this plan is not foolproof. Scattered storms over the back half of the day Will remain likely into next week.
