Inmate convicted in deadly Baldwin State Prison stabbing
Prosecutors say the inmate used a homemade weapon in the fatal stabbing of another prisoner.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Baldwin County jury has convicted a state prison inmate of murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of another inmate.
The Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office says Traquan Rashad Bangs was found guilty of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of prohibited items by an inmate.
Prosecutors say the charges stem from the August 21, 2024 killing of inmate Vincent Dyer at Baldwin State Prison. They say Bangs stabbed Dyer multiple times with a homemade weapon inside the prison.
Chief Judge Alison T. Burleson sentenced Bangs to life without the possibility of parole plus five years in prison. According to the district attorney’s office, Bangs is a six-time convicted felon.
