Monroe County animal control director arrested in multi-state drug case

Deputies say the arrests are tied to a multi-state investigation into drug manufacturing and distribution.

MONROE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Three people, including Monroe County’s animal control director, have been arrested in connection with what investigators say was a multi-state drug operation.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies executed a search warrant Wednesday in the River Forest subdivision as part of the investigation.

52-year-old Chad Gifford, 22-year-old Holden Haworth and 49-year-old Becky Gifford were arrested and charged with manufacturing and distribution of controlled substances. Deputies say Becky Gifford is the county’s animal control director.

All three are being held in the Monroe County Jail without bond.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional updates will be released as more information becomes available.
