Georgia enters Level 1 drought, Macon-Bibb water remains stable
Officials say the designation calls for voluntary conservation and does not include mandatory restrictions.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – State officials have issued a Level 1 drought response across Georgia, and local leaders are encouraging voluntary water conservation.
According to a news release from Macon Water Authority, Macon-Bibb County’s water supply remains stable, and there are no impacts to service at this time.
A Level 1 drought response focuses on public awareness and voluntary conservation rather than mandatory restrictions.
“MWA is well-positioned to continue providing reliable water service to our community,” Interim Executive Director Michel Wanna said. “We encourage our customers to take simple, everyday steps to conserve water.”
MWA is asking customers to take steps such as fixing leaks, running full loads in dishwashers and washing machines, turning off faucets while brushing teeth and limiting outdoor watering. It’s also reminding customers that the state’s year-round outdoor watering schedule allows watering between 4 p.m. and 10 a.m.
The authority says it will continue monitoring conditions and provide updates if the situation changes.
