BS Report: Braves Debut Fuentes Against the Nats – Mccollum Steps Up – Falcons Hunting for Picks
Hello from Victory Drive in Savannah, where we’re doing the radio show in Coach’s Corner. All right. Plenty to talk about now. First of all, the Braves play game three of their four game series with the Washington Nationals tonight. 645 for the first pitch, the Braves will have a new starting pitcher for this game as they are bringing up Didier Fuentes to start.
And that kind of space is the other starters out a little bit more. Fuentes, of course, one of the top prospects for the Braves. He made the team out of spring training, had one appearance out of the bullpen, did well, then went to Triple-A and has started ever since then. And he did well. So the Braves have brought him up.
Kind of lengthen that rotation. Plus, of course, last night when the Braves lost the nationals, they had a rough start from Reynaldo Lopez, who only made it into the second inning without getting it out. But he gave up four runs, walked three, had a ton of pitches. So the Braves had to have a long bullpen game for that ball game, and therefore they had to have another pitcher come out.
Ian Hamilton was designated for assignment. Fuentes brought up, and we’ll see if the Braves get back in the win column tonight. Their six game win streak was snapped last night by Washington. Although the Mets and the Phillies, well, they just keep on losing, which is not a bad thing for the Atlanta Braves. Hawks tomorrow night, game three of the series.
Back in Atlanta against the Knicks in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Cannot wait for that. A lot of national attention, of course, on what happened in game two in New York on Monday with C.J McCollum now being a big villain for the New York fans, he said, I’m just a parent with a couple of kids and a wife.
But everybody knows that he’s had a great career in the NBA with Portland and New Orleans and now with Atlanta. So he continues to make a big difference on and off the court, really, not only with his contribution of 32 points on on Monday night, but also just being around these young players. I mean, Jalen Johnson and Zaccharie Risacher and Onyeka Okongwu for all of these guys to see exactly the contribution that a veteran player like that can make is is immeasurable, really.
And he’s been great for this Hawks team. And hopefully he can push them to another victory in game three at State Farm Arena in what should be a great game with a great crowd. Hopefully not a lot of Knicks fans will show up, but hopefully the Hawks fans will, be a little bit louder than the New York faithful.
And finally, the NFL draft is tomorrow. Starts tomorrow of what thing will be interesting to see is how many Georgia Bulldogs players will be able to be drafted. Will CJ Allen get drafted in the first round? Monroe. Freeling that’s a possibility. Christian Miller. Also a possibility. But also the Atlanta Falcons do not have a first round draft pick, at least right now.
There have been rumors the Falcons may trade tight end Kyle Pitts for a late first rounder. There was a rumor that Kansas City may be interested in Pitts, and may give up their 29th overall selection in the first round for Kyle Pitts. We’ll see if that happens, but the Falcons only have five draft picks. They do not have a first rounder.
They have five draft picks in the new drum. Andre and Cunningham has already said I want more draft picks, so I expect the Falcons to be very active when the draft starts on Thursday night in Pittsburgh.
