BS Report: Hawks Take Game 2 – Braves Get Easy Win in Washington
What a night last night for the Braves and the Hawks, both winners. First on the Hawks, who won by one point in game two of their first round match up with the New York Knicks. An unbelievable win for Atlanta. They were down by 12 points to start the fourth quarter, but came back. Played great defense. Only allowed 15 points from New York in that final period, and they were unbelievable.
And the offense that struggled for most of the first game and for much of last night as well, really came through. And no more none more than C.J. McCollum, the veteran who was acquired a couple of months ago in the Trae Young deal from Washington. He was unbelievable. And really, the New York fans will never forget about that performance from CJ McCollum, who went off for 32 points
A great fourth quarter, great defense there in the fourth quarter by the kill Alexander Walker on the strip from Jalen Brunson. And it was an unbelievable comeback win that was thoroughly enjoyed by every Hawks fan who watch. That is for sure. So the series is now tied at one. They say that an NBA playoff series doesn’t start until the home team loses a game.
Well, it started then. It’s now a best of five series between Atlanta and New York, with the series moving to Atlanta for game three on Thursday from State Farm Arena game four will be in Atlanta, game five back in New York, then in game six in Atlanta. And if there’s a need for a game seven, it will be back in New York.
So can the Hawks take advantage of this now with their home court advantage and win this series in shock? The third seeded team in the Eastern Conference, we will see. Meanwhile, the Braves are in Washington last night and Brian Stelter with another solid performance getting into the seventh inning. He continues to do very well for this team and the Braves offense.
Man, it just keeps on rolling along. It is amazing of how good this offense is right now. And the Braves won the game and it was kind of easy. Matt Olson with a home run. Big night again for him as he continues to just hit the ball very very well. This offense is just clicking right now. And it’s a great thing to see the rotation continues to be a strength for this team.
They got the best E.R.A. Team wise in baseball. Best bullpen ERA in baseball as well. But they did get some bad news on Tuesday morning with the news that Raisel Iglesias, the closer for this team, has to be put on the injured list with some right shoulder inflammation. Now, they said over the weekend that he actually slept on his shoulder.
A little weird now on Friday night, and he was kind of kept out of the game on Saturday. Came back a little wild on Sunday. So you wonder if that has anything to do with it. But he’ll be out for a couple of weeks. But that’s why the Braves signed Robert Suarez, the closer for the Padres last year, who led the National League in saves a year ago.
He’ll step right into that closer’s role, and everybody else have to take a step up as well. Tyler Kinley will have to have a bigger role. Of course, the lefties Dylan Lee and Aaron. Bummer. They’ll have to step up as well. And we’ll see how that bullpen goes with Iglesias out for at least a couple of weeks. Bryce back at Action Night game two of the series.
