BS Report:Hawks look for a comeback in Game 2
On the road here in South Georgia, let’s talk about what’s coming up tonight. First for the Atlanta Hawks who will have game two of their series in New York at Madison Square Garden against the Knicks, who won game one on Saturday. The Hawks really had trouble with fast break points. The Knicks kind of beat the Hawks, their only game, so that’ll be something that will have to be a little bit better tonight for Atlanta if there to even the series before they come back to the State Farm Arena for game three on Thursday.
Atlanta didn’t play horribly for the whole game, but there were just some stretches where New York just was better, to be honest with you. Jalen Brunson was really good in the first quarter. Calm down. And in the second half the big center Karl-Anthony towns was really good for New York and Atlanta was unable to contain him. One question about tonight’s game is Onyeka Okongwu, the center for Atlanta who is questionable with a right knee issue.
Hopefully he’ll play out. Be shocked if he doesn’t play, but that is something to watch in case even if he plays, he has some issues with that right knee with the Hawks and a better game from Jalen Johnson, who needs to also play better defense. The kill Alexander-Walker was held to only 17 points the other night as well, so he’s got to be better.
And look, the Hawks can beat this team. I don’t know if they can do it four out of seven games and win this series, but they can beat it. New York they played hard against them a couple of Mondays ago and that regular season game, it was a great ball game that Atlanta led until about three minutes left, and they played hard and led at times.
The other day as well in game one, so we’ll see what happens there. The Braves move on to Washington to continue their first place run. Bryce Elder will be on the mound for Atlanta. He’s been incredible all year long. But this Braves team is on a roll right now. After sweeping the Philadelphia Phillies in Philadelphia over the weekend.
They have a five game lead on both Miami and Washington in the National League East. The Phillies are six and a half back, and the New York Mets are eight games back in the National League East. They have lost 11 games in a row. And there’s something great about the world when the Mets are struggling that much. But the Braves offense has been incredible.
They lead the National League and the whole big leagues really in runs scored per game. They have been outstanding at the plate. Of course, Drake Baldwin is leading the way. Matt Olsen we saw Austin Riley get going a little bit in Philadelphia with a couple of home runs. So that was good. Michael Harris with a great weekend. He’s doing really well, but his pitching staff has really been the name of the game for Atlanta so far this year, as they have the best team era in baseball.
They have been outstanding. The rotation E.R.A is the best in baseball. The bullpen ERA is the second best in baseball, behind Cincinnati for the relievers. But you can’t really complain about a whole lot right now for the Braves, who have one of the best records in the big leagues. So hopefully they’ll continue that with a four game series against the nationals before returning home to Atlanta on Friday for a three game set with the Philadelphia Phillies.
