MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Atrium Health Navicent’s Crescent House marked Child Abuse Prevention Month on Wednesday with a pinwheel garden planting ceremony and a county proclamation.

Manager of the Crescent House Kemberlie Sanderson says the pinwheels that are planted are a national symbol for child abuse prevention.

“I always say there’s nothing more innocent than a pinwheel toy, so we are celebrating children’s innocence, and their desires, and need to be protected,” Sanderson said.

She believes this event is important to highlight each year because all children deserve to have a happy and safe childhood.

Children who are victims of abuse can find specialized care at the Crescent House at Atrium Health Navicent at 682 Hemlock Street in Macon.
