MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority will adjust service hours later this month, citing low evening ridership.

MBCTA officials say most fixed route and paratransit service hours will return to the previous schedule, in place prior to July 2025, beginning Monday, March 16.

Under the updated schedule, service hours will be:

  • Monday through Friday from 5:20 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday from 5:20 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Transit officials say data shows evening ridership has remained consistently low, with significant decreases after 8 p.m. across both fixed route and paratransit services.

The last bus departures from the MBCTA Transfer Station will vary by route.

Routes with final departures at 7:45 p.m. include Vineville, West Bibb, Shurling Walmart Block 1, Tom Hill, Eisenhower Block 2 and Houston.

The East Bibb route will have a final departure at 5:25 p.m.

Routes with final departures at 4:50 p.m. include Log Cabin/North Napier, Shurling Walmart Block 2 and North Bibb.

MBCTA says the adjustments are intended to improve and maintain system sustainability while continuing to provide safe and reliable service.
