One dead, two hospitalized after apartment fire in Forsyth
Police say the fire started on the first floor and spread to the upper level and attic.

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – One person is dead and two others were taken to the hospital after an apartment fire Wednesday afternoon in Forsyth.
According to a news release from the Forsyth Police Department, police and fire crews responded at 3:36 p.m. to 235 Union Hill Drive after reports of an apartment fire with possible entrapment.
Police say one victim jumped from the second story of the building before firefighters arrived. Investigators determined the fire began on the first floor and spread to the upper floor and attic. The fire was contained to the building where it started.
According to police, one person died inside the room where the fire originated. Two others were taken to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
The Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting with the investigation alongside the Forsyth Police Department. The Monroe County Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
