‘Suspected partial human remains’ found near church in Monroe County

Deputies say the remains were found in a wooded area off Rumble Road.

MONROE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Investigators are working to determine the origin of suspected partial human remains found Wednesday afternoon in Monroe County.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and investigators responded to a wooded area near St. Paul AME Church off Rumble Road around 2:34 p.m. after receiving a report of the remains.

A sheriff’s office spokesperson said the remains were recovered from the area and said investigators remained on scene Wednesday afternoon as the investigation continues.

No additional details have been released.
