Members of PAGE Plan to Address Concerns of Controversial Macon Miracle Plan By Writing Letter to Superintendent

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- More people are starting to speak out about the Macon Miracle plan and it’s not all great reviews for Superintendent Dr. Romain Dallemand’s strategic plan designed to improve education in Bibb County. Members of PAGE are concerned and they’re planning to put their concerns in writing for Bibb County School Board members and the superintendent. Earlier today 41 NBC spoke with the Director of membership Tim Callahan about the letter and some of the things that will be addressed in the letter. Callahan says several members have concerns about Dallemand’s plan to close several schools and the loss of 323 teaching positions. Callahan says he plans to send the letter to Dallemand by the end of the week.

“Well we are going to be communicating by letter to the superintendent and the board the concerns that our members have raised. We want them to understand that this is certainly a shock to the system and it’s a whole lot of new ideas. It really is going to be incumbents upon the superintendent and ultimately the board to communicate and explain the rational behind these things and make the case for them” , said Tim Callahan Director of Membership.

Dr. Dallemand hopes his Macon Miracle plan will make the district more efficient and keep more money in taxpayer’s hands. Dallemand estimates the district will save $23.3 million. He will formally present it to school staff, Friday afternoon at the Macon Centreplex.
