Man dies after being struck by vehicle on Jeffersonville Road in Macon

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says the driver was arrested and faces multiple charges.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that happened Friday night on Jeffersonville Road.

Deputies say the crash was reported just after 9 p.m. near the intersection of Jeffersonville Road and Purnell Drive.

According to deputies, a man later identified as 36-year-old Eric Felix Wilburn was walking along the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle. Wilburn was pronounced dead at the scene. Bibb County Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley says his family has been notified.

The driver, 39-year-old Daniel Hicks, remained at the scene and called Macon-Bibb E-911, according to the sheriff’s office.

Hicks was taken to the Bibb County Jail and charged with driving with a suspended license, no insurance, expired license plate, DUI less safe, DUI and open container violation.

The crash remains under investigation.
