Ross Sheppard enters race for Georgia House seat covering Baldwin, Bibb, Jones
Campaign kickoff scheduled in Milledgeville as Sheppard outlines housing, health care and education priorities.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A Milledgeville community advocate and small business owner is launching a campaign for a Middle Georgia seat in the Georgia House of Representatives.
Ross Sheppard announced plans Friday to run for House District 149, with a campaign kickoff scheduled for Tuesday morning at his home in Milledgeville, according to a news release. The announcement event is set for 10 a.m. at 396 Allen Memorial Drive SW.
According to the release, Sheppard is running as a Democrat. He’s a Georgia College and State University alumnus and currently works in housing and small business development.
Sheppard’s campaign website, rossforga.com, says his platform focuses on addressing rising housing costs, expanding access to health care, supporting public schools and strengthening infrastructure the district.
House District 149 includes a significant portion of Baldwin County, part of east Macon in Bibb County and a section of Jones County.
The seat is currently held by Floyd Griffin, a Democrat from Milledgeville who took office in January 2025.
Primary election day is May 19.
