Teen charged as adult sentenced in 2024 Warner Robins High School assault

The teen pleaded guilty to aggravated battery after a February 2024 fight that left another student injured.

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A teenager charged as an adult in connection with a bathroom assault at Warner Robins High School has been sentenced to felony probation.

According to Houston County District Attorney Eric Edwards, Makale Javon Hunter Mitchell entered a guilty plea Thursday to aggravated battery stemming from a February 2024 fight inside a bathroom at the school.

Mitchell was 17 years old at the time, which resulted in him being charged as an adult in Superior Court. Two additional co-defendants involved in the fight were younger than 17 and were charged separately in Juvenile Court, Edwards said.

According to Edwards, the victim was also a 17-year-old student who was assaulted by Mitchell and the juvenile co-defendants after a disagreement earlier in the week. During the fight, the victim’s nose was broken.

Mitchell was arrested on February 1, 2024, and served a little more than a month in jail before bonding out. As part of his guilty plea, he was sentenced to 10 years of felony probation.

Edwards said Mitchell is also required to pay $500 in restitution to help cover the victim’s medical expenses related to the injury.
