Cold front to bring rain and storms Thursday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – After a few days of return flow an incoming cold front will bring showers and thunderstorms to the Peach State Thursday.
This Evening
Cirrus clouds have dampened the sun around Middle Georgia today, but despite that temperatures largely reached the upper 60s. Overnight tonight will be much warmer than last night as freezing temperatures are completely off the table. Most spots will only drop into the low to mid 40s. A stray shower or two will be possible ahead of sunrise tomorrow. Overnight wind will be light out of the southeast.
Tomorrow
A cloudy day is expected Thursday with a few showers likely during the morning hours. In the afternoon more widespread rain is likely with thunder and lightning also possible. Severe weather is not expected with the passage of this system, however. Aside from the rain expect it to be a bit breezy from the southeast with wind ranging from 5-12 mph. Gusts should range from 15-20 mph. High temperatures could reach into the upper 60s, however if more widespread rain moves in earlier expect those to only be in the low to mid 60s instead.
Overnight rain will continue as the cold front will not pass until almost sunrise Friday morning. It will be windy overnight with south-southwest wind gusting as high as 25 mph (sustained 7-15 mph). Rain should subside by sunrise Friday, clearing to the southeast. Rain totals should largely stay under an inch.
Friday and Beyond
Sunshine will return and the wind will be pronounced Friday following the passage of the above mentioned cold front. Gusts will push to around 25 mph with sustained winds ranging from 7-15 mph. This will lead to sub-freezing temperatures ahead of the sunrise Saturday. It will be a mild weekend with the first day of Winter (Sunday) expected to be quite warm for this time of year.
