MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A longtime Central High School advocate and community leader is being recognized statewide for decades of service to students and families in Bibb County.

Roger Jackson, the longtime president of the Central Chargers Booster Club, has been named one of the Georgia High School Association’s (GHSA) 2025 Inspiration Award winners. Jackson is one of just a handful of honorees selected from across the state.

Jackson will be recognized Tuesday, December 16 during the GHSA Football State Championships at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

According to the GHSA, the Inspiration Awards recognize individuals who exceed expectations by inspiring student-athletes or setting extraordinary examples through their impact on schools and communities.

Jackson is a Central High alumnus and a key figure in Bibb County athletics for decades. He is also the founder of the Motivating Youth Foundation, a nonprofit that provides after-school and summer programs, clothing, equipment and financial support to children and families throughout the county.

His recognition comes during a milestone year for Central High School, as the Chargers mark the 50th anniversary of the school’s 1975 state football championship, the only football state title in Bibb County history. Jackson was part of that championship and has remained deeply involved with the program since.

The GHSA says recipients are nominated by peers, administrators or coaches who recognize their lasting impact on education-based athletics and the broader community.
