Storms tonight; ample wind tomorrow

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A cold front will bring storms tonight and chilly wind leading into Thanksgiving following its passage.
This Evening and Overnight
It’s been a mostly cloudy and warm day across Middle Georgia with some decent breezes from the southwest. Conditions will stay muggy through tonight as the atmosphere is primed for some storms ahead of the overnight cold front. A Level 1 “Marginal” risk for severe weather includes the western half of Middle Georgia. The primary concern is a few damaging wind gusts however some small hail cannot be ruled out. The front will be weakening as it arrives and the first storms may not move into the region until after midnight tonight.
Aside from storms expect mostly cloudy skies with lows expected in the low to mid 60s. Wind will remain a bit gusty from the southwest as sustained speeds range from 5-12 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph. Rain should move out just after sunrise tomorrow morning.
Tomorrow
A few lingering showers or perhaps a storm may be ongoing during the sunrise hours in the southeastern reaches of Middle Georgia. Aside from that the rain will be done, however clouds will likely stick around some, especially the high level clouds. There will be a lot of wind throughout the afternoon as it shifts to out of the west-northwest. Gusts will push as high as 30 mph with sustained speeds likely to range from 7-15 mph. High temperatures should reach the low to mid 70s.
Overnight will be clear and breezy with gusts still likely to reach upwards of 20 mph from the northwest. Conditions will be much chillier thanks to the cold front with lows likely to drop into the mid to upper 30s around the region. Wind chills could be around freezing in the coldest spots.
Thanksgiving and Beyond
Sunny skies are likely Turkey day with plenty of wind from the northwest. It will be a chillier day with highs only reaching the mid to upper 50s around Middle Georgia. The cooler conditions will finish the work week along with plenty of sunshine. The wind should calm down a good bit by Friday.
