UPDATE: Two more juveniles arrested in connection with shooting of 12-year-old, bringing total to eight

The two arrests now bring the total to eight in connection with the shooting.

UPDATE (8/22/25): The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office arrests two more juveniles in connection with a shooting on August 17.

They say investigators, along with the assistance of the SWAT team and Gang Unit, took two 14-year-old boys into custody inside of Murphy Homes in connection with the aggravated assault on Mint Green Lane.

According to the sheriff’s office, both are charged with aggravated assault and possession of firearm during the commission of a felony.

The two arrests now bring the total to eight in connection with the shooting.


UPDATE: Deputies say multiple juveniles and a 17-year-old are facing charges in connection with two Bibb County shootings Sunday evening.

According to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old were first taken into custody after a 12-year-old boy was shot on Mint Green Lane around 5:11 p.m. Both were charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

The sheriff’s office said additional arrests followed after a second shooting was reported at 6:30 p.m. on Silver Pines Drive in retaliation for the Mint Green Lane incident. No injuries were reported at Silver Pines Drive. Deputies said three more juveniles and a 17-year-old were taken into custody.

The following arrests and charges were made:

  • A 12-year-old, charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, released to parents awaiting a court hearing.
  • A 14-year-old, charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, transported to the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center.
  • A 13-year-old, charged with two counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, transported to the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center.
  • A 15-year-old, charged with two counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, transported to the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center.
  • A second 15-year-old, charged with two counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, transported to the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center.
  • 17-year-old Tauquavious Dean, charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

According to medical staff, the 12-year-old victim remains in critical but stable condition.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Sunday night shooting that left a 12-year-old boy injured, according to a news release.

Deputies responded to the 2600 block of Mint Green Lane at 5:11 p.m. after a call to the Macon-Bibb Emergency 911 Center about a person shot. When they arrived, deputies found a 12-year-old boy with a gunshot wound.

Paramedics transported the child to a local medical facility. Medical staff told investigators the victim is in critical but stable condition.
