Deputies: Man charged after firing shots, barricading himself in Macon home
Deputies say Rasul Jamal Shaw surrendered Saturday and faces two aggravated assault counts, two firearm possession counts and a theft charge.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A 50-year-old man faces aggravated assault and other charges after deputies say he fired shots and barricaded himself inside a Macon home Saturday.
According to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 4000 block of Villa Avenue after a report of a man firing shots from inside a home. The call came in at 4:26 p.m.
Deputies say they tried to contact the man, identified as Rasul Jamal Shaw. The sheriff’s office says Shaw immediately fired two shots and barricaded himself inside.
Additional deputies responded and determined Shaw was alone inside the home.
Shaw eventually surrendered and was taken into custody. Deputies say they recovered a firearm.
The sheriff’s office says Shaw was taken to a medical facility for an unrelated medical condition before being taken to the Bibb County Jail.
He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and theft by receiving stolen property.
