Thursday Night Football Scrimmage in Macon

ACE hosted John Milledge Academy, while Westside and Southwest battled at Ed Defore Sports Complex

MACON, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – Two GHSA High School football scrimmages got underway Thursday night, as teams prepare for Week One of the 2025 season next week.

The Academy of Classical Education Gryphons hosted the John Milledge Academy Trojans at Perkins Field in Gryphon Stadium. The Trojans grabbed three touchdowns in the first half behind a great running game.

ACE will head to Central on Thursday August 21st for their season opener, while JMA will head to Bethlehem Christian Academy next Friday for their week one matchup.

At Ed Defore Sports Complex, the Westside Seminoles and Southwest Patriots took each other on in a defensive battle that included two first half Westside interceptions. However, Southwest would score the lone touchdown of the first half to go into the locker room up 7-0 behind a QB keeper from five yards out.

Southwest will play Macon County next Friday for their season opener and Westside will play Howard immediately following, as part of the Gridiron Classic at Thompson Stadium.
