Second annual Unionville Homecoming set for Saturday in Macon

The Unionville Homecoming is free and open to the community.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The second annual Unionville Homecoming will bring residents together Saturday for an afternoon of free food, live music, games and community resources.

The free event will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. at Center Hill Baptist Church, located at 1555 Cedar Avenue in Macon.

Event organizer Leah Duval said the homecoming is designed to celebrate the Unionville community while connecting residents with organizations and resources available in the neighborhood.

This year’s event will include live performances from the Gifted Harmony Choir and a quartet band, along with DJs providing music throughout the day.

Community organizations and agencies will also be on hand, including the health department, fire department, Growing Up in Unionville and Westside Neighbors United. Voter registration will also be available.

Duval said the event has a personal connection for her because her family has deep roots in Unionville.

“Unionville is home,” Duval said. “My grandparents lived there. My mother was raised there. My whole entire family was raised up in Unionville.”

Duval said the homecoming is an opportunity to celebrate the neighborhood and reconnect people who may not have seen one another in years.

“It’s a reunion, almost like a family reunion of sorts,” Duval said.

The Unionville Homecoming is free and open to the community.
