More clouds and storms Wednesday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Mostly cloudy skies and scattered storms are likely Wednesday across Middle Georgia.
This Evening
It’s been another hot day around Middle Georgia with scattered storms initially firing up in the southeastern counties. Coverage of these storms is expected to increase through the evening and into the early parts of tonight. Severe weather is overall not expected however the most intense storms could bring a couple of strong wind gusts.
Aside from storms tonight will be warm and muggy again as skies stay mostly cloudy. The Heat Advisory/Extreme Heat Warning will expire at 8 PM tonight and should not be renewed. Lows will largely fall into the mid 70s accompanied by light and variable winds.
Tomorrow
More clouds are likely for our Wednesday which will help temperatures to be ever so slightly cooler. Highs will reach the low to mid 90s as storms will become more widespread in the afternoon. Severe weather is again overall not anticipated, however the more organized clusters could have a few damaging wind gusts. Expect wind to be light and variable with all the rain activity.
Overnight a few showers or storms may linger early before tapering off around 2-3 AM. Lows will be in the low to mid 70s accompanied by light wind from the south.
Thursday and Beyond
The remainder of the work week should be partly cloudy with close to 50% storm odds each afternoon and evening (approximately half of Middle Georgia should see storms each of those days). Highs will remain in the low to mid 90s with heat indexes into the low triple digits.
The weekend looks to be a wet one as a cold front pushes into the region from the north. This will help to cool things off, however anyone looking for that last dip in the pool before school resumes in Bibb County (and some others) Monday will likely be out of luck.
