23 Macon restaurants competing in French Fry Fight July 9-11
Downtown Macon’s French Fry Fight returns for a fourth year with 23 local restaurants serving creative fry dishes and competing for the "Super Spud" award.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Twenty-three downtown Macon restaurants will compete for the title of best fries during the annual Downtown Macon French Fry Fight, a three-day event from July 9 to July 11, according to a news release from NewTown Macon.
Now in its fourth year, the French Fry Fight coincides with National Fry Day and gives local restaurants a chance to showcase creative twists on a popular side dish. Participating businesses will serve their fry specials in-house during the three-day period.
The event was created by NewTown Macon’s Main Street Macon board to boost foot traffic downtown during the typically slower summer season.
“The Main Street Macon board is responsible for many of the fun, creative, and collaborative events that happen downtown throughout the year,” said Emily Hopkins, Vice President of External Affairs and Main Street Macon Manager at NewTown Macon. “Events like the French Fry Fight help show off downtown’s best assets -our locally owned and operated businesses.”
To participate, visit participating Downtown Macon restaurants during their regular hours on the competition days. Each restaurant will serve up their most creative and delicious fry specials, priced between $10-$20. NewTown Macon says each entry is a shareable appetizer or entrée portion “designed to wow your taste buds!”
Customers can vote for their favorite dish at newtownmacon.com. The restaurant with the most votes will win the “Super Spud” award.
This year’s participating restaurants include: Biddy’s, Braddock’s Cask and Table, Cashman’s Pub, Daisy Tequila Bar, Fall Line Brewing Co., Fatty’s Pizza, Francar’s, Just Tap’d, Kinjo Kitchen + Cocktails, Kudzu Seafood Company, La Bella Morelia, Longleaf Distilling Co., Loom at Hotel Forty Five, Macon Water Ice, Ocmulgee Brewpub, Oliver’s Corner Bistro, Parish on Cherry, Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen, Rookery, Satterfield’s, Sweet Eleanor’s, Social Duck and the Vintage Restaurant at Marriott City Center.
Cashman’s Pub took the title in 2024 with its Asian Sesame Fries entry. The establishment also took top honors in 2022.
