Heat continues Wednesday as rain chances climb

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Temperatures will remain above average in the afternoon however storm odds will climb in the evening.

Mostly sunny and hot conditions will continue around Middle Georgia the rest of the afternoon and evening. It will be a warm night as well with lows expected in the mid to upper 70s. Wind will be light and variable. Rain is not expected, however a brief shower cannot be ruled out.

The heat will be on for Middle Georgia again as highs are expected to reach into the mid to upper 90s with heat indexes into the triple digits. The Heat Advisory currently in effect for the entire region will continue through 8 PM EDT tomorrow. Wind will be light out of the northeast.

Storm odds will climb in the late afternoon and evening. A Level 2 “Slight” threat for severe weather includes all of Middle Georgia. This is largely due to the potential for some damaging wind gusts, however some hail cannot be completely ruled out with any organized clusters that form.

Overnight a few storms should linger early however activity will subside ahead of sunrise Thursday. It will be a cooler night with lows expected largely in the lower 70s. Wind will be variable at 5-15 mph (stronger wind with any storms).

Isolated storms will become the norm in the afternoon again to finish off the week as high temperatures and low temperatures return to near normal. This pattern will carry through the weekend and into early next week.
