MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – After a brief break from the wet weather the rain odds are back for Middle Georgia starting Wednesday.

This Evening and Overnight

It’s been another nice afternoon around Middle Georgia with partly sunny skies. Unfortunately the air quality has been affected a bit by the smoke particulates from wildfires in Canada. Expect cloud cover to increase through the overnight hours into Wednesday morning. A stray shower cannot be ruled out for the southern counties of Middle Georgia ahead of tomorrow’s sunrise. Wind will flow from the east at 5-10 mph as temperatures drop into the low to mid 60s.

Tomorrow

While some sun is expected Wednesday it will largely be during the morning hours. Clouds will be the dominant force with overcast skies likely through the back half of the day. Highs will be a lot cooler than Tuesday as they only reach the upper 70s and lower 80s. Wind will flow from the east at 5-15 mph with gusts pushing 20-25 mph.

Rain odds will begin to increase in the late morning with the most widespread activity expected in the mid to late afternoon. This activity will be coming up from the south vs the usual west/northwest. As of now no severe weather is expected, however a Level 1 “Marginal” risk cannot be ruled out for tomorrow afternoon.

Overnight some showers or a couple storms may persist. Wind will slow a good bit from the day time as it flows from the east-northeast at around 5 mph. Low temperatures will be in the upper 60s for most of the region.

Thursday and Beyond

More scattered showers and storms are likely Thursday as mostly cloudy skies hang around. Friday and the weekend will see warmer temperatures return, however rain odds in the afternoon will also remain a possibility.
