MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Macon-Bibb County broke ground Monday on a new phase of improvements at Memorial Park Recreation Center, launching a $1.1 million renovation project funded by the voter-approved Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST).

“We are really excited about the much-needed upgrades at Memorial,” Recreation Director Robert Walker said in a county news release. “Our kids and community deserve the best. We know this construction period will be well worth it!”

The project includes two new pavilions, an inclusive playground, pool improvements, baseball field renovations and resurfacing of the basketball and tennis courts.
